The United States of America (also known as the US national contract) has a large territory in the center of North America with an area of 8 million square kilometers (2,500 km from North to South, 4,500 km from East to West). There are four common abbreviations: the initials with the first two letters of the state name (Alabama: AL, Arkansas: AR); the first and last letter of the state abbreviation (Kentucky: KY), which stands for the first letter of each word (New York: NY); abbreviated name and all letters in the state name, usually the second consonant (Texas: TX).
